Following his recent conviction of multiple shoplifting offences, Kyle Hagerty, 38, from Barry, was given a three-year Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on September 30, 2026.
Haggarty - a prolific shoplifter - carried out 14 thefts in just 40 days, stealing more than a thousand pounds worth of goods from stores across Barry between May and June, 2026.
He stole meat, coffee and laundry products worth £1,685 during his six-week crime spree, which gathered pace throughout June, with multiple offences committed within days of each other and some occurring on the same day.
On September 30, he was convicted of 14 shoplifting offences and received a four-month sentence suspended for 18 months at Cardiff Magistrates Court.
But now he has been banned from many shops throughout the town and will not be able to return for three years.
If he breaches his criminal behaviour order, he faces being sent to prison.
As part of the CBO, Haggarty must not enter any retail premises on Holton Road and Broad Street. He is also banned from entering any Home Bargains, Sainsburys, Co-op, Halfords, One -Stop and Pets at Home stores.
An even wider ban from any retail premises across the town applies, if he is in company with three other individuals, namely Matthew Moore, Lee Green, Stuart Gorry and Lewis Payn.
The aim of a CBO is to prevent crime and protect the community, local workers, and members of the public from continued distress, disruption, and potential harm.
This case demonstrates our commitment to tackling shoplifting.
Any breaches and incidents should be reported to police
