Bridgend man jailed for drugs offences

This was following a foot pursuit that took place in Bridgend in June this year.

Craig Larkin, 46 from Wildmill, Bridgend was sentenced to five years in prison following his conviction.

Larkin was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court on Friday August 14 where he pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and one count of possession with intent to supply heroin.

This follows officers conducting routine patrols in the early hours of the morning in the Wildmill area of Bridgend in June. Officers pulled down St. Andrews Road when they noticed Larkin carrying a large object. Larkin was known to police for previous drug deals.

Officers pulled over to speak with Larkin but during the conversation he sprinted away. During the pursuit Larkin dropped multiple items of clothing and a bag. He was caught up with and arrested. During the search of Larkin officers found class a drugs from within the bag and thin dark red jacket.

While looking in the jacket officers located another mobile phone, a set of scales, a rock of compressed white powder and a bag containing a few wraps believed to be heroin.

Police Constable Rhodri Wilson said “You can only begin to imagine the negative impact that the drugs which Craig Larkin has sold have had on those who have consumed them, not to mention their friends, family and wider communities.

“With another good drugs sentence, a message has been sent that the drug trade does not pay in the end – our officers will find you and you will go to prison."
