1. The number of police officers and special constables reported for domestic abuse, violence and sexual offences in the financial years: 2022/23, 2023/24, 2024/25 and 2025/26. Please give a breakdown of the number with gender, ages and dates (month/year) of when they were first reported.

• Arrested
• Charged
• Sentenced
• Subjected to a disciplinary procedure
• Dismissed following a misconduct hearing

1. How many police officers and special constables committed crimes against women/girls (VAWG) in the financial years: 2022/23, 2023/24, 2024/25 and 2025/26? Please give a breakdown of the number with gender, ages and dates (month/year) of when they were first reported.

1. How many police officers and constables were subject to internal misconduct proceedings relating to alleged VAWG‑related offences in the financial years: 2022/23, 2023/24, 2024/25 and 2025/26.

1. What were the outcome of those proceedings?

Response

We consulted with our Professional Standards department (PSD) who have provided the following information regarding your request.          

Question 1

PSD have conducted a search on their system for all cases in the financial years 22/23 – 25/26 with the following factors attached:

National factors:

• PPDA
• Domestic/gender abuse

Local Factors:

• Domestic abuse by SWP officer
• Domestic abuse/violence by officer
• Domestic involving SWP staff member
• PPDA

  Please note, the individual totals do not add up to the final grand total; this is because officers can have multiple allegations across several years. Therefore, one officer may have been counted more than once in the individual column/row breakdowns. The final grand total is a distinct count of the number of officers and is the exact number of officers who have had reports of domestic abuse against them between 2020-2026

  PSD have conducted a search on their system for the following:

   

  • The criminal outcome of each domestic abuse case was collated from corresponding criminal databases.
  • Misconduct proceedings and dismissals were collated from PSD records of disciplinary procedures.

  • The list of VAWG cases were cross referenced with PSD records of disciplinary proceedings to collate the cases where misconduct proceedings were brought against the officer.

  South Wales Police work with TABW. An independent emotional support and advocacy service for victims of police perpetrated Violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence. Independent Police Perpetrated Domestic Violence Advisors (IPPVA) provide emotional and practical support to victims.
