REQUEST

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000, please could you provide the following information for collisions recorded within your force area during 2024, 2025 and 2026-to-date:

• The number of vehicle collisions occurring at drive-thru restaurants or cafés, broken down by month and year.
• Where available, the name of the premises or business where each collision occurred, for example Starbucks, Costa Coffee, McDonald’s or KFC.

If the information is not held specifically under the term "drive-thru", please provide any recorded collision data that identifies collisions occurring at drive-thru restaurants or cafés, including within their premises, car parks or drive-thru lanes. If you require any clarification, please do not hesitate to contact me.

RESPONSE

We have consulted with our Force analysts who have provided the following information in relation to your request.

A search has been completed using the following methodology:

All RTCs (Road Traffic Collisions) from 01/01/2024 to 06/10/2026 were extracted.

Within these incidents, all occurrence addresses which featured the following restaurant names were isolated:

• McDonalds
• Burger King
• KFC
• Greggs
• Starbucks
• Costa Coffee
• Taco Bell

These resulting occurrences were manually reviewed to identify where the RTCs took place.

The below incidents include all those where collisions occurred in the restaurant car park, drive through lane AND those where information regarding the specific location of the collision could not be ascertained, but DO NOT include any incidents confirmed to have occurred on public streets outside restaurant premises.
