REQUEST

This request concerns the use of Redflex Traffic Systems (HADECS3) smart motorway enforcement cameras deployed within your jurisdiction, particularly those used on smart motorways such as the M4 and M5.

Information Requested

1. Compliance and Certification Documentation

Please provide all records, data, or documentation held by your force relating to:

1. Technical compliance of Redflex HADECS3 or equivalent enforcement systems used on smart motorways;
2. Calibration certificates and schedules;
3. Maintenance logs and equipment service records;
4. Home Office Type Approval (HOTA) documentation specific to the systems in use;
5. Details of the entity or personnel who conducted equipment calibration and certification;
6. Accreditation details for any third party involved (e.g., UKAS, ISO 17025 compliance);
7. Evidence of compliance with UK enforcement standards, including those of the DVSA, UKAS, or Home Office guidelines.

RESPONSE

We have consulted with our Central Ticket Office who have advised that South Wales Police do not hold this information as the M4 is not a Smart Motorway.
