REQUEST

Under the Freedom of Information Act, I am requesting the number of recorded crimes or incidents from 1 January 2024 to the present in which the following keywords appear in incident summaries, crime reports, or investigation notes:

“deepfake” OR “AI-generated” OR “synthetic media” OR “fake nude” OR “fake video”

Please provide:

1. The number of such incidents, broken down by month, where the suspect or perpetrator was under 18 at the time of the offence.
2. Where available, the associated offence type or classification, e.g. harassment, sexual offence, malicious communications, etc.

RESPONSE

We conducted a keyword search on our crime and incident recording system (NICHE RMS) where the keywords *deepfake*, *AI-generated*, *synthetic media*, *fake nude* and *fake video* was mentioned in the summary within the requested time frame. This search retrieved 7 results.

We manually interrogated each occurrence to establish if the suspect was under the age of 18 at the time of the offence.

There retrieved zero results.

Please note that this data has been gathered by searching our records management system for offences containing the keywords *deepfake*, *AI-generated*, *synthetic media*, *fake nude* and *fake video* in the relevant time period. The results retrieved are dependent on how the information has been entered onto the system. As such, the information provided should not be considered statistically accurate and/or definitive and therefore, care should be taken when using this data for any further statistical, analytical or evaluative purposes.
