REQUEST

Could you please provide me with:

1. The number of collisions involving electric powered pedal bicycles (popularly known as e-bikes) for each calendar year from 2018 up to and including 2024. Also the number of casualties and fatalities that happened as a result of those collisions
2. The number of collisions and casualties involving electric powered scooters (known as e-scooters) for each calendar year from 2018 up to and including 2024. Also the number of casualties and fatalities that happened as a result of those collisions

CLARIFICATION

The applicant has removed question 1 as this would exceed the appropriate fees limit of 18 hours under Section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act.

We have consulted with our Motoring Unit who have provided the below response to your request.

Please see the below figures that show the number of collisions and the number of casualties as a result of those collisions broken down by calendar year:

2018 – 0 collisions

2019 – 0 collisions

2020 – 1 collision resulting in slight injury

2021 – 0 collisions

2022 – 3 collisions resulting in 4 slight injuries

2023 – 10 collisions resulting in 1 with no injury, 8 slight injuries and 1 serious injury

2024 – 7 collisions resulting in 7 slight injuries
