REQUEST
I am requesting information regarding the police investigation into the cannabis factory discovered at Whitchurch Hospital, Cardiff. I understand this discovery occurred around August 2014.
RESPONSE
We consulted with our Crime and Criminal Justice unit who have provided the following information regarding your request.
Question 1
Two persons were arrested in relation to this offence. Neither of the individuals were charged with any offences.
Question 2
There is no record finding as to how the individuals gained access to the property or its power supply.
Question 3
During the investigation there was no evidence discovered or presented by the Health Board that persons working at the hospital had any involvement in the offence. The area of the cannabis growth was a disused area and had been for a long period of time, it would be a matter for the health board on their security arrangements and how often this area was checked. Since this incident there has been ongoing work between the local neighbourhood team at Fairwater Police Station and security at the site to reduce any crime and anti-social behaviour.
