Request

1. Please provide a list of the costs associated with onboarding a PCSO, to be broken down as follows: recruitment cost, training cost, laptop cost (if issued), cost to provide all other equipment & uniform.
2. Please also provide a figure, if known, of how many staff members your force employs that are neurodiverse. Please separate these into police staff, police officers and PCSOs

Question 1

We consulted with our Corporate Finance department who have provided the below response to your request.

South Wales Police does not hold a breakdown of recruitment and training costs specifically relating to PCSO’s. However, South Wales Police recharges ICT and Uniform costs for Welsh Government PCSO’s. Uniform recharge is £100 per PCSO and ICT Device recharge is £419 per device.

We consulted with our HR department who have provide the below response to your request.

South Wales Police hold no information to answer this part of your request. Neurodiverse conditions are not documented on HR records unless the individual has a Reasonable Adjustment in place. Even then the Reasonable Adjustment is not noted as why the adjustment has been put in place (for what Neurodiverse condition) but instead what type of adjustment is put in place.
