REQUEST
I’m writing with regards my request for information relating to ‘user data requests’, submitted earlier today and reproduced below:
The number of requests for user data made by the MPS to the following companies since 2015 to date. Please provide separate figures for each company, broken down by calendar year.

Clarification – Please be advised this request erroneously referred to requests “made by the MPS”. I would be grateful if you could provide the number of requests made by your own force.
RESPONSE
We have consulted with our Crime and Criminal Justice Department who have provided us with the information.
Please see the attached document entitled ‘Response Data 253_25’ that provides a breakdown of the number of requests by calendar year and by each company.
Where the data is blank from 2013 to 2022 in the row ‘META’, this is due to a process change in SWP’s database used to record this data. Prior to 2023, data was categorised for ‘Facebook’, ‘Instagram’ and ‘WhatsApp’ separately, however as a result of META owning responsibility for those three platforms post 2023, the data is provided and therefore categorised on our database under one entity.
