REQUEST
Specifically, I would like to request the number of complaints, reported incidents, warnings issued, and fines given for smoking or vaping in restricted areas over the past 3 years. If possible, please provide a breakdown by year and by type of location.
- Number of reported incidents, complaints, warnings issued, and fines related to smoking and vaping in areas where it is prohibited.
- Breakdown by location type, including:
o Trains, train stations, and other public transport hubs (e.g., bus stations, airports).
o Hotels and guest accommodations.
o Restaurants, cafés, pubs, and bars.
o Museums, galleries, cinemas, and theatres.
o Shopping centres and retail spaces.
o Workplaces and office buildings with designated non-smoking areas.
RESPONSE
We have consulted with our Justice Services department who have advised South Wales Police hold no information to answer your request. We do not have records of fines or fixed penalties for this offence, and we do not record the number of incidents or warnings issued under these regulations.
Under Section 16 of the Freedom of Information Act – Duty to provide advice and assistance, this information may be held by local authorities, and you may wish to refer this request to them.
