Welcome to the South Wales Police Heritage Centre, which brings the history of policing in south Wales back to life. From the Celtic age to present day, we tell the fascinating stories of south Wales’ officers through the decades.
The Heritage Centre aims is to preserve the history of policing in south Wales and expand public knowledge and awareness of the history of our police force by collecting, preserving, displaying and interpreting material relevant to the history of South Wales Police and its predecessor forces.
Our galleries contain a range of artefacts, including police equipment and uniform from years gone by, such as handcuffs, radios and the decorated dress uniforms of 19th century Chief Constables.
Explore the kit of a Victorian constable; discover the tough duties of Glamorgan officers in World War I, and uncover some of the weapons used against police.
There is also a Charge Room to book people into custody at our museum, as well as a cell for any law-breaking guests!
Visitors are required to book ahead of their visit to the Heritage Centre.
