The South Wales Police Heritage Centre has established and collaborated on a number of fascinating projects relating to police history and heritage in south Wales.
The work undertaken by the Heritage Centre has involved serving and retired staff of South Wales Police, and has been produced to enable the force to raise awareness of its heritage and engage with communities.
Previous collaborations have taken the form of force-led research projects and co-development and organisation of events and exhibitions.
Between 2014 and 2018 the Heritage Centre was involved in project to remember the police officers from South Wales Police’s predecessor forces who served in the First World War.
The project produced a considerable amount of material which is available in the First World War project page.
Access to the First World War project page can be found at the bottom of this screen.
In 2019 the Heritage Centre played a part in marking the 50th Anniversary of South Wales Police.
During the anniversary a booklet was produced which reflected on the story of policing in south Wales. This research project involves the use of original sources and photographs from our archive collections, which were sourced with help from Glamorgan Archives.
The booklet will be available to view on these pages due course.
