Quick work from South Wales Police officers saw a Swansea man arrested and sentenced within just two days after he was caught breaking into a vehicle and stealing items from within.
54-year-old Darren Williams, from Uplands, broke into the vehicle on a lane just off Walter Road on March 23. Williams was caught on CCTV smashing the front passenger window of the vehicle , before brazenly returning to the scene of the crime an hour later to attempt to access the vehicle again.
Williams was arrested soon after due to matching the description of the man seen on CCTV. He was found in possession of items taken from the car.
Williams pleaded guilty to theft from a motor vehicle and criminal damage to property. He has been sentenced to 12 weeks in prison.
PC Luke Morgan said:
“Thieves like Darren Williams make the good, law-abiding people of Swansea fearful that their vehicle could be targeted at any time.
“We have a zero-tolerance approach to thefts from motor vehicles, and it was pleasing to see this brazen offender brought to justice so quickly.”
