Two men jailed following Oxford Street robbery in Swansea

Two men from Swansea have been jailed after carrying out a robbery and then using the victim’s bank card.

24-year-old Keiron Gordon, from Townhill, and 36-year-old Scott Simmonds, of no fixed abode, approached the victim, who was unknown to them, on Swansea’s Oxford Street on March 15.

One of the men then, unprovoked, punched the victim in the face, causing him to fall to the ground. They then told him not to move while one held him down and the other emptied his pockets, removing his wallet and mobile phone.

The pair then used the victim’s bank card to purchase alcohol.

Both men were identified using facial recognition technology and arrested a few days later.

Keiron Gordon has been sentenced to 30 months in prison. Scott Simmonds has been sentenced to 40 months in prison.

Detective Inspector Stuart Prendiville said:

“Nobody should have to walk our city streets in fear of thugs like Keiron Gordon and Scott Simmonds.

“Their assault of the victim, which was no doubt fuelled by having consumed drugs and alcohol, was cowardly and completely unacceptable.

“The fact that they thought this was a crime they would get away with speaks volumes for their poor character. Prison is the right place for them.”
