Drug dealer thought he was talking to his brother, but he was speaking to a police officer who was about to search his bedroom…

‘Don’t let them in my room…’

Those were the words of drug dealer Ismail Adan before he hung up.

He thought he was speaking to his brother - little did he know, a police officer was on the other end of the phone.

Ismail Adan, 20, wasn’t at home on July 10, 2024, but knew that police officers had executed a search warrant under PACE at his family’s house. He contacted his brother to try to prevent officers from going into his bedroom, where he had a stash of crack cocaine.

Moments after the call, officers entered his room and found ten wraps of crack cocaine as well as the drugs line they were investigating.

The officers from the Cardiff and Vale Organised Crime Unit were acting on intelligence supplied by officers from the Metropolitan Police who managed to link Ismail to the running of the ‘Avon’ drug line which had been in operation since April, 2024.

Adan was arrested the following day and taken into custody. He was charged with being concerned in the supply of crack cocaine and heroin and possession with intent to supply crack cocaine.

Adan, of Penarth Road, Grangetown, pleaded guilty to all offences and appeared at Cardiff Crown Court on Thursday, November 21, where he was detained for three years at a young offender institution.

He was one of 25 people arrested throughout July (2024) by the Cardiff and Vale Organised Crime Team. During the crackdown, a quarter of a kilogram of crack cocaine and £17,000 in cash was seized. A Total of 21 drugs lines were also put out of business.
