These fascinating pictures show some of the refresher training that our crime scene investigators have been carrying out recently.
Alongside colleagues from other forces in southern Wales and the south-west of England, the CSIs were able to hone a variety of skills to enhance further the work they do in real-life scenarios.
CSIs’ main role within policing is to examine crime scenes and record or preserve anything that could be used as evidence – and all with the aim of bringing offenders to justice and protecting the wider public.
The drills during the recent sessions included excavating evidence following a fire, with that aspect of the training taking place at Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service’s headquarters.
Also among the learning was a study of blood pattern analysis, including how that can demonstrate the height, angle and from what surface blood might have dripped from.
