The motorcyclist who died following a road traffic collision on St Helen’s Road, Swansea on Friday December 2 has been named as Alex Lewis, 19, from Cockett in Swansea.

Alex’s family has paid the following tribute to him:

“Alex was the kindest most caring and loving person you could ever meet. He was a quiet person but never failed to make friends where-ever he went. He had a smile that would light up a room and would always make you laugh.

“He had a large number of friends from childhood to work colleagues and worked hard to buy the things he loved, one of which was his pride and joy motorcycle. He enjoyed going out on rides both with his mates and alone to watch the sunsets.

“We have received many many messages and tributes from friends and family.

“Alex will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him so very much, he leaves a hole in our lives which will never be filled. Rip Alex our beautiful boy we will love you forever XXX.

“We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the emergency services who attended the scene of the accident and especially the ambulance crew and paramedics who tried so hard to save him. Thank you.

“If anyone has any information or dash cam footage, please inform the police.”

South Wales Police is continuing to investigate the collision and is appealing to anyone who has not yet come forward and who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have any dash-cam footage of the incident, or who witnessed the manner of driving of both vehicles prior to the collision.

As the collision happened following contact with South Wales Police, the incident was referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct which is carrying out a separate independent investigation relating to police contact prior to the collision.
