A 19-year-old has been sentenced for committing 69 sexual or related offences against minors.
Cory Jones, of Rees Street, Treorchy, was sentenced today to a total of eight years for the offences, which occurred throughout 2024, when Jones was aged 17 and 18, and involved 37 victims, ranging in age from 10 to 16 years old.
The charges against Jones included:
Jones will also be subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will be on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
Detective Inspector Stuart Prendiville has spoken about the gravity of Jones's actions, saying:
“Cory Jones deliberately targeted young women on social media, lying about his age and employing manipulative, deceptive tactics. His exploitation of vulnerable children for his own sexual gratification is a stark reminder of the dangers that exist online.
“Our thoughts are with the victims and their families during this difficult time. It is our hope that the conviction and sentence handed down today will provide some measure of comfort and justice to those affected.
“Let this serve as a warning that such predatory behaviour will not be tolerated, and that we must remain vigilant in protecting our children."
