REQUEST

I wish to request the following information regarding offences related to the use of glue traps under Section 11 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 as amended:

1. How many reports of potential offences under the act were received
2. How many potential offences under the act were investigated
3. The outcomes of those investigations.

Please could the information be broken down by the specific offence, by month. Specifically the offences of S11(1)(bb) and S11(1)(bc).

Clarification

SWP: We have consulted with our Crime Registrar who has provided the following information ‘ This offence is not on the list of notifiable offences so there will be no data available on it’. We could search for occurrences recorded as 108/2/N: Animal cruelty - beat, ill treat etc and interrogate each one to see if they relate to glue traps.

RESPONSE

A search has been completed using our crime and incident recording system (Niche RMS) for all occurrences recorded as 108/2/N: Animal cruelty - beat, ill treat etc reported between 17^th October 2023 and 17^th August 2026. This search retrieved 105 occurrences. Each occurrence was individually interrogated to determine relevance to your request.

1 occurrence reported in relation to glue traps, this was investigated and the outcome was ‘Cancelled/transferred’.
