REQUEST
I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 regarding the investigation into the death of a woman known as Claire Darras, whose body was discovered in the Caerau Brook, near its confluence with the River Ely, on January 21, 1918. Her funeral took place at Cathays Cemetery on January 26, 1918 (as detailed in the Friends of Cathays Cemetery Newsletter, Not so Grave News June 2017).
I am particularly interested in obtaining the following:
Full transcripts or summaries of the inquest proceedings for "Claire Darras" (or the unidentified woman found on January 21, 1918).
Any police investigation files, reports, notes, or records related to her death, including efforts to identify her, track her movements after leaving the ship Buchareste in Barry, and the reasons for any surveillance.
Details of the contents of the box of personal effects and the handbag found, including an inventory, storage location, and their ultimate disposition.
Any correspondence related to the case, especially with the French Embassy or other foreign authorities.
I understand that this case is over a century old, and some records may not be available. However, I would appreciate it if you could conduct a thorough search of your archives.
RESPONSE
We consulted with our Crime and Criminal Justice Department who have advised that South Wales Police do not hold this information.
