REQUEST

Could you please provide data on:

a.) how many people applied to join the force

b.) how many of these applications were successful

For each of the following years: 2024, 2019, 2014.

Could you please also break down the figures month by month?

Clarification: To clarify, this request relates only to police officers, and not to police staff.

RESPONSE

We consulted with our HR department who have provided the below response to your request.

2019

a.) how many people applied to join the force = 2014

b.) how many of these applications were successful = 130

              March 2019 = 73

              September = 57

2024

a.) how many people applied to join the force = 1691

b.) how many of these applications were successful = 191

              March 2024 = 120

              September 2024 = 71

Please note we do not hold data for 2014 as we did not start using the recruitment system Oleeo until 2018.
