Animal cruelty and domestic abuse
If your partner, ex-partner or a family member has harmed or threatened to harm your pet, this can be a form of domestic abuse.
In these cases, offenders exploit a victim's bond with a pet or another kept animal as a way to control them, or force them to act against their will. It can be common after a separation, or if the offender is trying to prevent the victim from leaving the relationship.
