This booklet has been designed to provide information for anyone considering reporting a rape or sexual offence, as well as those who have already begun their journey after a report has been made.
The journey has been broken down into stages from the initial decision to report an offence through to court procedures. Information about what to expect from each stage of the process has been provided, along with advice on the support available along the way.
The decision to report such a distressing and deeply personal matter is a difficult one and there can be many barriers to overcome. This booklet explains the different stages in simple terms to empower you to make informed decisions about how you want to proceed. It also sets out the support and assurances that you are entitled to receive along the way.
We hope that this will reduce some of barriers and provide reassurance at this very difficult time.
