A four-day weekend to mark the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen sees a host of local celebrations and national events taking place between Thursday, June 2, and Sunday, June 5, 2022.
The Queen is the first British monarch to spend seven decades on the throne, and the jubilee celebrations include an extra Bank Holiday.
The long weekend also sees a wide range of other events in the diary – including the In It Together festival near Margam; music concerts in Singleton Park, Swansea, and Cardiff Castle; T20 cricket matches; and Wales' World Cup play-off final at Cardiff City Stadium.
Chief Superintendent Danny Richards said:
“The Platinum Jubilee long weekend will be an exciting few days, packed with celebrations of Her Majesty The Queen’s 70 years on the throne – as well as a whole host of other public events right across South Wales.
“We know thousands of people will be attending street parties, lightings of The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Beacons, and a variety of other civic events.
“South Wales is also hosting music festivals and gigs, large community events, T20 cricket, and Wales’ World Cup play-off final.
“In South Wales Police we are proud to be playing our part in ensuring the long weekend runs smoothly.
“We’re expecting to be extremely busy, and so we’re making the usual appeal for people to enjoy themselves safely, and to respect staff and other attendees at these events, as well as our own officers, PCSOs, staff and special constabulary, who will be out and about throughout the weekend. If you need to report something to us, you can do so on our website. If it’s an emergency, always dial 999.”
