- Plan your journey home in advance, and only use licensed taxi firms
- Keep an eye on your drinks and avoid drinks you did not see being poured
- Bars and clubs can refuse entry to anyone they suspect of being drunk
- Stay with your group, and look out for each other

- If you’ve had a drink or taken drugs, never drive
- Remember, you could still be over the limit the next day, so wait until the alcohol has left your system
- If you suspect someone is driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, report it – it could save a life
- Don’t put pressure on someone who’s over the limit to drive

- Try to avoid leaving your presents on display near windows
- Dispose of Christmas present packaging carefully – empty boxes left outside could let others know what you have inside
- If you are going away, don’t advertise it on social media. This lets people know your home is empty
- Register your valuables for free at www.immobilise.com

- Make sure a website is authentic
- Make sure payment pages are secure (look for the closed padlock in the address bar)
- Learn how to spot fraudulent emails, texts or direct messages, or social media offers

- Don’t leave bags unattended while out and about
- Keep your handbag closed and wallet/purse in an inside pocket
- Avoid leaving purchases such as presents on display in your vehicle
