On Sunday, June 26, at 9:20am officers received a report of a man drink driving in Rumney. The car was later sighted driving along Aberdaron Road, where the driver, Venables overtook an unmarked police car and drove off at speed.
Venables continued to drive erratically before crashing and making off on foot on Trebanog Crescent. He returned to an address in Trowbridge, where he was found by firearms officers.
Officers then conducted a roadside breath test where he blew 89 on roadside and 80 in custody which is over double the drink drive limit.
Shaun Venables, 35 of Richmond Road in Cardiff first appeared at Cardiff Crown court on Monday November 18, where he pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, possession of Class A drugs, drink driving and driving without insurance.
He was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday January 6 to 15 months in prison and banned from driving for three years.
