Did you know we offer staff apprenticeships here at TeamSWP? This #NationalApprenticeshipWeek, we are shouting about our apprenticeship programme and sharing some real stories of people who have used it.
Developed by our Positive Action team, the South Wales Police apprenticeship programme is an excellent opportunity if you are wanting to develop your workplace skills alongside gaining an academic qualification. This opportunity is suited to those at the start of their career journey or those looking for a career change. You will be expected to complete a Level 3 qualification relevant to the apprenticeship you chose, alongside your work with us.
It is a paid programme starting in September and lasting between 12 to 18 months, depending on reaching the requirements for the qualification. You will be supported through the course by a tutor from the college and by your team in the workplace. At the end of the qualification, you will be able to apply for a permanent role within South Wales Police.
“My apprenticeship in South Wales Police really did exceed all my expectations, and I have learnt so much about myself along the way! I was given the opportunity to shadow so many different departments across SWP with my highlights being Custody, the Public Service Centre and the Joint Scientific Investigations Unit.
“I have gained so many new skills during my time with the EDI team and have developed my confidence hugely. I am now more sure of my career goals and my apprenticeship has equipped me with the tools to achieve them. I will forever be grateful for this experience and the friendships I have built along the way!” Rachael Duffy, Equality Diversity and Inclusion Apprentice.
We currently have vacancies in the following departments:
“South Wales Police is committed to early entry routes into policing, where individuals can experience and observe different roles across our force. These opportunities can help individuals decide their future career direction.
“The apprenticeship route, which is one of several early entry routes here at SWP, can offer development, in conjunction with achieving a qualification. Individuals will receive on the job training and gain relevant experience and skills.” Debbie Nugent, Positive Action Manager.
