On Friday March 22, officers signalled to the driver of a Nissan Note to stop on Albany Road.
However, the car continued to drive and went through a red light, before coming to a stop shortly afterwards.
Officers then searched the car and noted that the housing around the radio appeared loose. The search team pulled the radio out and found a white carrier bag containing 39 wraps of class A drugs (cocaine and heroin) in the void. They also found a knuckle duster in the glove compartment of the car.
Upon arrest Simos claimed that the knuckle duster wasn’t his but belonged to his brother. Simos was charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs (heroin and cocaine), and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
Aris Simos, 52 from Newham in London plead guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and was sentenced to 30 months in prison at Cardiff Crown Court on Tuesday October 8. He also must pay a surcharge of £228.
