This month we have recommenced Operation Adriatic, an annual summer beachfront operation designed to combat anti-social behaviour.
South Wales Police is working closely in partnership with Neath Port Talbot Council, Safer Neath Port Talbot, the RNLI and other agencies in order to make the beachfront a pleasant space for all to enjoy.
Throughout the summer, officers will be working from the RNLI building on Aberavon seafront and will be visible on the beach and promenade.
Inspector Jared Easton said:
“This yearly operation, which takes place during the summer months, will see officers tackle anti-social behaviour typically associated with the beachfront, such as drunkenness, inconsiderate use of barbecues, dog fouling, loud music, and parking, amongst other issues.
“Officers will be actively interacting with beach visitors, offering assistance, providing information, and providing a welcoming atmosphere, all while promoting safety and ensuring the beach is a place that everyone can enjoy.”
Clive Morris, Lifeboat Operations Manager at Port Talbot RNLI, said:
"We are thrilled to once again join forces with South Wales Police and other local agencies to make Aberavon Beach a safer and more welcoming destination.
“Our partnership enables us to work more efficiently in responding to incidents and ensuring the well-being of all beach visitors. By working together, we can create a positive experience for everyone."
A Safer Neath Port Talbot spokesperson said:
“The Safer Neath Port Talbot Partnership are pleased to be supporting Operation Adriatic again this year.
“Over the course of the summer months, you will see our teams in the local area, working in partnership with Police colleagues, to engage with local residents and those who visit the beachfront to provide information and advice on the prevention of antisocial behaviour.
“This will include specific events which you will see advertised on our social media."
