Fantastic partnership working between SWP Merthyr Tydfil Community Safety Partnership and the Merthyr NPT (Neighbourhood policing team) has resulted in obtaining a Criminal Behaviour Order on Bleddyn Rees.
Bleddyn has been responsible for a number of issues within Merthyr Town Centre due to his repeated Anti-Social Behaviour and aggressive begging.
Bleddyn was regularly seen to target vulnerable people within the Town Centre and ask for money but when they declined, he would become verbally aggressive and confrontational towards them putting them in fear of their safety.
The effort and hard work that has been put in by all involved has seen the arrest of Bleddyn for 10 breaches of his Community Protection Notice and a large case file of evidence was put together and sent to the court who have today issued a Criminal Behaviour Order to Bleddyn which will run for the next 2 years. This Criminal Behaviour Order comes with the following conditions:
đšī¸ Not to approach persons unknown to ask for money or alms in the County Borough of Merthyr Tydfil.
đšī¸ Not to present yourself in such a manner, or sit on the pavement, with or without items in front of you including but not limited to a plastic cup, hat or newspaper so that it is believed that you are begging or accepting money, within the County Borough of Merthyr Tydfil.
đšī¸ Not to enter the exclusion area of Merthyr Tydfil Town Centre as shown by the red outline on the map provided. Unless for attending a pre-arranged appointment for which you must provide proof to an Officer if requested to do so. You are however allowed to enter the exclusion area to attend your bank, that being Credit Union at 139 High Street, Merthyr Tydfil CF47 8DN, for the purpose of querying or carrying out a financial transaction. This entry must be via Swan Street and turning left into High Street as shown by the green outline on map previously provided, and which the defendant confirms still has. Once the query or financial transaction has concluded, you must immediately leave the exclusion area via the same route as you entered.
