South Wales Police’s Swansea and Neath Port Talbot Licensing Team has partnered with Swansea Council Taxi Licensing staff to conduct a joint taxi operation to ensure passenger safety.
During the operation:
Sergeant Chris Dix said:
“This was an important operation which worked to help ensure the safety of passengers using taxis after a night out in the city centre.
“We want passengers to feel reassured and confident that any taxi they enter following a night out is fully compliant with safety legislation.”
David Hopkins, Cabinet Member for Corporate Service and Performance, said:
“Taxis make up an important element of our city’s public transport and we want to make sure that the vehicles the public travel in are safe.
“We work regularly with our local police to carry out checks on taxis operating in the city and will continue to take action to ensure taxi operators are doing all they can to make sure their vehicles are road worthy and safe for use.”
