We have issued a Section 60 Notice which gives officers the authority to stop and search anyone in Gabalfa, Cardiff.
The Section 60 Notice takes effect from 2pm today (Friday, July 12) and will remain until 7am tomorrow (Saturday, July 13).
The Notice authorises any Constable in uniform, within the area defined by the map, to exercise the powers under Section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994:
This decision has been taken following recent incidents of disorder and serious violence which has included items such as rocks being thrown at police vehicles.
Section 60 is aimed at preventing serious violence, to find dangerous instruments or to apprehend persons carrying weapons.
