A man from Rhondda Cynon Taf has been handed a 16-year sentence for the sexual abuse of children.
Gary Hayes, 61, of Garth Street, Taff’s Well, was found guilty of indecent and sexual assault of four children, all under the age of 13, between April 2002 and September 2016.
He was sentenced to the following:
Detective Inspector Owain Morrison said:
“Firstly my thoughts remain with the victims and their families having gone through such a terrible ordeal.
“Gary Hayes systematically abused children who should have been able to trust him, and his sentence reflects the gravity of his offending and the harm that he caused.
“These investigations can take time and I want to commend the victims in this case for their patience, bravery, and courage whilst the investigation was ongoing.
“Child sexual abuse is often a hidden crime, and we work hard to ensure that the voice of the child is heard. I hope this sentence sends a strong message that we will pursue all available lines of enquiry to ensure we bring justice to victims of serious sexual and indecent assaults.”
