We are aware of content on social media regarding a protest incident in Swansea this past weekend.
We have received a complaint from a member of the public regarding this matter, which has since been referred to the Professional Standards Department for an assessment to be made.
Superintendent Mark Kavanagh said:
"Members of the public have the right to peacefully protest, and South Wales Police will continue to work closely with the public to facilitate this.
"However, on this occasion, we needed to prevent protestors from causing disorder within the Marks and Spencer store in Swansea, which was distressing for both shoppers and members of staff who had to be evacuated from the store for their own safety. This is clearly unacceptable.
"I urge anyone considering protesting to take account of the safety of others when planning where and how to conduct their activities, and to engage positively with officers."
