Porthcawl man sentenced after committing 12 offences

Daniel Kiddier, 36, has been given a five-year and three-month prison sentence after being found guilty of 12 offences.  

Kiddier, from New Road in Porthcawl, was today sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court. He had previously been found guilty at trial at Newport Crown Court earlier this month of 11 counts of engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Detective Constable Tyler Rowland said: “Daniel Kiddier has been sentenced today for 12 domestic abuse offences.

“I want to thank the victim in this case for their courage in reporting these incidents to us and seeing it through the judicial process. 

“Being a victim of coercive and controlling behaviour has a huge impact on the victim, physically, mentally, and emotionally.

“Daniel Kiddier has now been sentenced to over five years in prison.  I welcome this sentence, which shows that domestic abuse is not only taken seriously by South Wales Police but also the courts. 

“I would urge any victims who have suffered domestic abuse in any form to come forward and report it to us or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.”
