There will be an increased policing presence in Swansea city centre, Neath and Port Talbot to help people feel safe while enjoying a Christmas meal or drink.
The festive Op Advent will be running every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night until New Year’s Eve.
Chief Inspector James Ratti said:
“During previous years there has been an increase in footfall in the night-time economy of Swansea, Neath and Port Talbot as people visit our town and city centres over the Christmas period.
"There will be high visibility patrols by police officers supported by our partners that includes door staff, taxi marshals, Samaritans and the joint Night-time economy Help Point who will be engaging with the public to deter crime and disorder, and highlight the importance of keeping yourself safe.”
Please remember to be respectful to others – including those working on your behalf to keep people safe.
Specialist police officers will also be patrolling Swansea city centre to provide reassurance to Christmas revellers by carrying out overt operations to identify anyone displaying concerning predatory behaviour, and taking action to intervene, as part of Op Ferndown.
This operation will be running every Wednesday and Saturday evening during the night-time economy to prevent incidents developing at an early stage.
Chief Inspector James Ratti said:
“Following on from the success of previous deployments of officers, this operation will build on initiatives within Swansea city centre to keep people safe and ensure that anyone visiting the city centre can do so without the fear of being subjected to unwanted advances.
"I would like to provide reassurance that the likelihood of becoming a victim of any type of assault, whether from a physical or sexual assault is incredibly low, however that does not limit the harm that dome when such crimes do take place.”
“Our officers will work closely with door staff to provide guidance on recognising predatory behaviours and I would encourage people to report any concerning behaviour to police or door staff.”
