In July 2022, officers were on patrol in Stanleytown when they witnessed what looked like a drug deal take place. A man was spotted exiting an address and placing a large bag with what was believed to be cannabis in back of a car.
The car attempted to make off from police but was stopped shortly after. The driver, Andi Smile, 52, of Ferndale, and passenger, Laurent Nexhipi, 23, of Stanleytown, were arrested after officers found 2kg of cannabis in the vehicle.
A third man, Gjin Kronaj, 31, of Leicester, who placed the cannabis in the vehicle was found in the address he came out of and following a search a further 6kg was located inside. Kronaj was arrested.
All three men were charged and remanded into custody until their court date.
Last week, all three men pled guilty to possession with intent to supply Class B - cannabis and were sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court to the following:
Andi Smile - one year and five months
Gjin Kronaj - one year and five months
Laurent Nexhipi - ten and a half months
