Huge congratulations to four #TeamSWP officers who won the regional award for Wales at a national bravery awards ceremony last night.
PC Owen Bedford, Insp Paul Ramsay, DI Paul Graham, and an officer who wishes to remain anonymous, attended the national Police Federation Bravery Awards in London alongside Chief Constable Jeremy Vaughan, after they were nominated following their valiant but tragically unsuccessful efforts to save a woman’s life.
They formed a human chain over a crumbling and exposed cliff edge in dark and dangerous conditions, risking their own lives in the process.
After being presented with the accolade, DI Paul Graham said:
“It is very humbling, but the important part of this for us was the recognition of the family. They’re who matter most.
“The support from South Wales Police has been fantastic and shows it as a real family and a wonderful organisation to work for.”
Chief Constable Jeremy Vaughan added:
“I could not be prouder of these four officers; they demonstrate all that is great and good about policing, and they are thoroughly deserving of this award.
“Every day, my officers, and those around the UK, put the needs of others before themselves, often running towards dangerous and unpredictable situations that so many would run away from.
“It was a privilege to be in attendance at the national Police Bravery Awards last night, and to hear the truly humbling stories of all those nominated. Each of them should be extremely proud of their actions.”
