Fatal collision, Mountain Ash

We are appealing for witnesses following a collision which occurred around 8.05pm yesterday evening (November 24) on Church Street, Penrhiwceiber, Mountain Ash.
Police Sergeant Darren Westall said:
"A blue Ford Focus collided with a 76-year-old woman. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, sadly, the woman died at the scene as a result of her injuries.
"Next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. My thoughts remain with family and friends.
"A 24-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He currently remains in police custody at Merthyr Tydfil Police Station.
"We want to hear from anybody who witnessed the collision, the manner in which the car was being driven in the moments prior to it, or anyone who stopped at the scene to provide assistance.
"We are also appealing for any dash-cam, mobile phone or CCTV footage which may assist the investigation."
