Investigating burglaries has remained a priority for South Wales Police as we recognise how invasive and traumatic it is to have your home broken into.
We already attend all reported house burglaries and provide support to victims who may be particularly vulnerable, such as the elderly living alone.
A recent inspection of the force rated our investigations and prevention of crime as ‘good’ which is a recognition of the effective work carried out in these areas.
For the first six months in 2022, compared to the same period last year, there was a 17% reduction in residential burglary in South Wales compared to rises in other parts of the UK, while our record in bringing burglary offenders to justice is the best in England and Wales.
We will continue to strive to increase the number of offenders brought to justice and work with our communities to prevent burglaries from happening in the first place.
