At around 3.15pm on January 27th, officers attended a road traffic collision on the B4434 at Victoria Gardens, Neath. A woman was taken to hospital to be treated for serious injuries. South Wales Police can confirm that on Monday, January 31st, she died in hospital.
She is Gillian Jenkins, 75-years-old from Cimla, Neath.
Her family have released the following statement, paying tribute to her:
“Gillian is survived by her loving husband, Hugh and her three sisters Myrna, Rita and Joyce.
“Gillian was brought up in the Melyn area. Throughout her life she will be known for living in both Melyn and Neath.
“Gillian retired after more than twenty years of service working at the David S Smith cardboard factory in the Melyn.
“Both Gillian and her husband loved to go walking together, and Gillian especially loved to shop for clothes as she loved fashion. She would often say she would spend a fortune on clothes if she had the money!
“She will be sorely missed by family, friends and all that knew her.”
Officers investigating the collision continue to appeal for any witnesses who may have witnessed the collision or has CCTV or dash-cam footage that may have captured the incident to contact South Wales Police quoting occurrence 2200030329.
