We are appealing for help to trace a good Samaritan who came to the help of a woman who was the victim of an assault while walking alongside Llwyn-On reservoir near Cwm Taf, Merthyr Tydfil on Saturday August 6 at around 8.00pm.
The 26-year-old woman, who comes from Merthyr Tydfil was walking her dog around the reservoir. As she was walking along the path between the reservoir and the A470 she was approached from behind by an unknown individual who struck her and attempted to seize the dog’s lead.
At the same time an older man was walking towards them and on seeing him the assailant fled. The man then sat on a nearby bench and waited with the victim until she was able to recover from the incident and make her way home safely.
Inspector Mike Rudall said:
“This was a very distressing incident for the victim and we want to contact the good Samaritan who came to her help.
“The gentleman may have some information which will help us to identify the individual who assaulted the victim and attempted to make off with her dog.
“Incidents such as these are extremely unusual. I want to reassure the public that we regularly patrol the area and work with our partners at Welsh Water and Natural Resources Wales to provide safe places to visit and walk in.”
If you are the ‘good Samaritan’ or know who he may be please contact us quoting reference 2200266147.
