The sudden death of Mohamud Hassan: Further notices of investigation served
Main article content
Summary of a statement issued by the Independent Office for Police Conduct today:
“As part of the ongoing Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) investigation into police contact with Mohamud Mohamed Hassan prior to his death, notices of investigation have recently been served on three further South Wales Police officers and one custody detention officer.
“Service of a misconduct notice does not necessarily mean an officer has committed any wrongdoing. It is to notify an officer that their conduct is being investigated.
“We keep misconduct notices under review during the course of an investigation. At the conclusion the IOPC decides whether any officer under notice has a disciplinary case to answer.
“...an investigation like this does take time and we would ask people to be patient while the investigation runs its course.”
The force continues to fully co-operate with the IOPC investigation and has provided them with information and material, including CCTV footage and body-worn video.
We acknowledge the impact Mr Hassan’s death has had on his family, friends and the wider community. Our thoughts and condolences continue to be with them.
