Misconduct outcome notice – former Sergeant Ben Cooke
An Accelerated Misconduct Hearing was held on April 25, 2024, to consider allegations against former Police Sergeant Benjamin Cooke.
The hearing, chaired by Chief Constable Jeremy Vaughan, found the allegations of breaching the standards of professional behaviour by acting dishonestly and without integrity; failing to act with self-control and treating a member of the public without respect and courtesy; bringing discredit on the police service and undermining the confidence of the public in policing, to be proved.
The Chief Constable delivered the sanction of dismissal without notice, had the officer not resigned prior to the hearing.
Publication of the accelerated misconduct hearing outcome was postponed until Cooke was convicted and sentenced.
The former officer has been placed on the Barred List to prevent him from returning to policing.
