LAST UPDATED:
2018-08-21

Cardiff East Neighbourhood Officers took part in a multi-agency operation to tackle incidents of Rogue Trading in Cardiff.

Rogue traders use unscrupulous tactics and target residents, particularly the elderly or vulnerable, and deliberately overcharge for unsatisfactory services.

Officers joined forces with a number of different agencies including Cardiff Council Waste Enforcement, Natural Resources Wales, and Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency to carry out checks on vehicles, and their drivers, travelling through the East of the city.

Between 7am & 1pm, Road Policing & Neighbourhood officers monitored the roads looking for suspicious vehicles – Any vehicles stopped were taken to Caedelyn Park where officers from all agencies conducted their enquiries and took any necessary actions.

More than 70 vehicles were stopped by officers during the operation. Five vehicles were seized and 22 were issued with prohibition notices. Others were given fixed penalty notices (2), control of pollution notices (8), waste transfer note requests (15), and waste carrier licence fines (9).
