History Notebooks
The history of the force has its origins in 1841 and the creation of our predecessor forces; Glamorgan, Cardiff, Neath, Swansea and Merthyr Tydfil. It was the subsequent amalgamation of these forces which saw the creation of the South Wales Constabulary in 1969. South Wales Police is a force that is extremely proud of its heritage and thanks to the founder of the Force Museum Mr Edward Ronald Baker, the South Wales Police force archives are one of the most complete in the United Kingdom today. These history notebooks have been developed to ensure that our heritage and indeed the heritage of our communities are not forgotten.
