South Wales Police officers and staff have the opportunity to complete a range of exciting training courses as they develop their career within the organisation.
Learning Development Services (LDS) are the award-winning training branch of South Wales Police, and provide high quality, performance-driven training courses to staff and external agencies in a number of areas, including:
- Driver Training
- Firearms Training
- Investigative Training
- IT Training
- Initial Police Learning
- Leadership and Management Development
- Operational Training
LDS specifically tailor training courses to suit the needs of the participants, and can offer a unique learning experience in a wide variety of locations.
The South Wales Police Training Centre at Waterton homes the firearms training range, as well as specialist firearms training areas, operational training grounds and a number of classrooms.
Police Headquarters also contains IT Training classrooms and conference facilities.
Driver training is located in Cardiff.

Leave the M4 at junction 35 at the roundabout. Take the first exit if travelling from M4 Westbound, or the third if travelling from M4 Eastbound, towards Pencoed. At the next roundabout take the first exit to stay on the A473 Coychurch Road. At the next roundabout take the second exit to stay on the A473 Waterton Road. After approximately 2.4 miles turn left into the Training Centre.
