Mr Matt Jukes
Matt has transferred to South Wales Police from the South Yorkshire Police force where he was previously borough commander for Rotherham and Director of Intelligence.
Joining the Police service in 1995 has risen through the ranks quickly in his career having gone from DC to Detective Superintendent before being promoted to divisional commander.
In the last 15 years he has undertaken a number of different roles which have ranged from conducting a murder investigation in India to patrolling the streets of Rotherham.
Matt brings with him a combination of both specialist and local policing skills and has a wealth of experience particularly relating to counter-terrorism and policing criminal incidents.
A career highlight was working in Washington DC as a counter terrorism advisor with the UK law enforcement delegation to the G8.
Matt is very proud to serve the communities of South Wales, which with a heritage of coal and steel, already feel very familiar to him.
At his appointment he said:
“I hope my work on serious crime and terrorism will enable me to ensure that our communities are kept safe from these threats. It is the safety of every citizen which is at the heart of what I want to achieve in the force.”
